IHG Green Engage system is a global standard to help hotels to manage and report their use of energy, carbon, water and waste, and minimize the overall utility costs and environmental impact. In doing so, over 200 Green Solutions are recommended under the system, such as using energy-efficient lighting and lighting controls, installing water-efficient bathroom fixtures, improving indoor air quality, etc.

The Group advocates green education and green working attitude to reduce increasing damage to the environment. For this reason, we provide green products and operating processes, such as using telephones and e-mails for daily operations, and electronic payments for purchases in order to reduce energy and resources consumption during the working processes. We organize training programs for our employees to promote green environmental protection and reuse of office papers.

Competition on Source Separation of Domestic Waste, organised by the Environmental Protection Department, uses effectiveness, facilities, management and operating costs and involvement of residents and tenants as criteria to judge participants in order to give special recognition to buildings and residential developments that made efforts in waste separation. Over 2,000 residential developments and commercial buildings took part in the competition. The excellent results garnered by Dah Sing Financial Centre and The Forest Hills reflected the success of our "Green Property Management" policy

Clean air is vital to our health, and the Group has always paid special attention to the air quality in our various properties. It has always requested our property management companies outperform and make sure that public areas are cleaned on a regular basis and chemicals are stored and managed in a proper manner and switch to environmentally friendly products whenever possible, efficient use of thermostats and air condition systems are used efficiently so as to maintain indoor air quality at excellent levels.

In order to ensure residents enjoy good quality water, we carry out professional management of water pipe systems on all of the Group's properties and strive to maintain the highest water quality in those buildings. The Group's flagship property Dah Sing Financial Centre was awarded a certificate conferred by the Water Supplies Department under its Quality Water Recognition Scheme for Buildings in 2009, while The Forest Hills and The Morrison received the certificate in 2010, which show that tap water in these buildings is both safe and reliable, and also fully compliant with the drinking water quality guidelines of the World Health Organization.
